Linda S. Nichols

Linda S. Nichols, my loving partner of 30 years passed away peacefully at home in Mesa, Arizona on July 6, 2018, surrounded by loved ones.

Her interests included Native American culture and Arts, gardening; which basically meant keeping the lawn from burning up. She loved watching cooking shows, but didn't cook.

Over the years Linda parented and loved 5 dogs and 5 cockateels.

She enjoyed camping in the woods and road trips to the west coast and the green of Oregon. Spending a week in a cabin in Yellowstone was her favorite trip. She had her first sightings of a grizzly bear, moose, buffalo and fox.

Linda waited impatiently for college football and basketball season.

She loved a good story and a good laugh with friends, and slow dancing with me.

She loved the holiday season decorations and lights, and the PRIZES under the tree.

Linda loved driving her truck; having a smoke and a cup of coffee during the ride. That was one of her last wishes. We had plans to do that, but the closest we got was to take her to the garage door to show her that her beautiful truck was safe and secure.

Even though she was abandoned by her parents, she always said;

"Celebrating your Birthday is the most important day of the year."

Linda was born in Akron, Indiana. Raised by her grandparents the Cumberlands and Nichols'. She graduated from Akron High School. Attended Purdue University before moving to Arizona where she attended and worked at Arizona State University. She acquired an Associates degree in Paralegal studies. For many years she worked for Rural Metro Fire Dept /AMT as equipment and medical supply specialist; most recently at AMR division of Envision Healthcare in an administrative capacity, until she retired.

She is survived by her loving partner Deborah, daughter Cheri; two adoring sisters, Christine and Carolann from Las Vegas, Nev; Aunt Carol Cumberland, cousins Adele, Scott, Paige and Sheila of the Cumberland family from Akron, Indiana. She was preceeded in death by her loving and adoring Uncle Delmar Cumberland.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

The family wants to thank Advisacare Hospice of Gilbert Arizona for their excellent attention with Linda's end of life care. Especially Rn Renee.

Also, Horizon Funeral Care of Mesa, Arizona; James and Deak for their attention and comfort with the final stage of Linda's journey.

Linda would love donations to a no kill animal shelter.
