Billy Ray Cross

Bill Cross age 76 formerly from Lapeer, Michigan passed away from Advanced Lung Cancer on March 25, 2023 in Mesa, Arizona with his wife, Beth, by his side. He was born and raised in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. After graduating from Tonkawa High School he joined the U.S. Navy and served 3 years. From the U.S. Navy he moved to Lapeer, Michigan and married his first wife, Kathleen Ostrander. They had 2 beautiful children, Kathleen (Katie) and William (Billy). Bill joined the Lapeer County Sheriff Department in 1970 and retired in April 1996 with 26 years of service to his community. After retirement, Bill and his wife, Beth, of 36 years relocated to Billings, Montana and then to Mesa, Arizona. Bill leaves behind his wife, Beth; Daughter Kathleen(Katie) Dahring and husband Brad; Son Bill (William) Cross; 3 grandsons: Dylan Dahring, Cole Dahring and Logan Cross. 1 granddaughter: MacKenzie Cross. Sister-in-law Vickie Tucker and husband Tom of Leland, NC; Brother-in-law Mark Misener and wife Haley of Lapeer, MI and Brother- in-law Rick Misener, Arizona. Bill, the oldest of 9 children, leaves behind 3 brothers; Clifford, Delbert and Carl Cross and 1 sister Roxie all of Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Imogene Cross; 3 brothers: Jimmy, Roy Raymond and Leroy Cross; 2 sisters: Wanda Lake and Dorothy Martin; 1 niece, Rainie Beth Cross and 1 nephew, Casey Cross. Bill will be laid to rest in the Veteran’s National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ with full military honors on March 30, 2023. All welcome to attend.
