Bodhi Matthew DeFer

Bodhi Matthew DeFer, age 7, passed away on September 10, 2024. He unexpectedly left this world too early, and it has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who loved him. While we continue to seek answers, the loss is profound.

Bodhi is survived by his loving parents, Matthew and Brittany DeFer, and his two siblings, Braxton (13) and Juniper (11). He also leaves behind a large, close-knit extended family, including grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear family friends. He was preceded in death by his Great-Grandma Archer, and his Uncle Mike DeFer, both of whom we are certain, are now lovingly embracing him.

Born on February 18, 2017, Bodhi was affectionately known as "Bo Bear." He had a deep love for kickball, often saying, "The only bad part of my day was that I couldn’t play more kickball." He also enjoyed basketball, anything related to Mario or Marvel, and had recently developed a newfound passion for Pokémon.

Bodhi was a radiant light, possessing a tender heart that embraced everyone he met. His infectious joy touched the lives of all who knew him. Though we will miss him dearly, his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 532 South Greenfield Road Mesa, AZ 85206 on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at San Tan Memorial Gardens at Schnepf Farms, 22425 E Cloud Rd, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.

I'll miss Bodhi because he was my best friend and taught me about the kindness and love I should use and he also taught me kickball and he played soccer with me. Love, Ben Bonilla

There are no words to soothe the sorrow that accompanies unexpected grief but I hope there is comfort in knowing you are surrounded by the prayers of people who love you.
