Charlotte Lucille Holmes

Charlotte Holmes passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024 with her daughter by her side.  At the age of 100, she was ready to join husband, Wally, in heaven where he has been waiting for 27 years.

Charlotte was born February 24, 1924 to Lucille and Arthur Allen in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She was the youngest of 3 children.  Lucille and the children struggled through the Depression after Arthur passed away at a very young age.

Charlotte met Wallace Holmes when she was just 16.  He later enlisted in the Navy and she traveled to meet him in San Francisco where they married on July 23, 1943.

After the war, they settled back in Minneapolis where they worked, raised their 2 children, and Charlotte studied and obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota.  After retirement they lived in Medford, Oregon for 7 years and in 1993 moved to Mesa, Arizona.

Char was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wally, son Wayne, son-in-law Roy Jackson, brother James Allen, sister Muriel Omestad and many other relatives and friends.

Left to grieve are her daughter Janet Holmes Jackson, grandson Clayton (Angie, Tirzah, Gabby), great granddaughter LeighAnn (Isaiah) Nelson, daughter-in-law Jackie Holmes, nieces and nephews, and many friends.  She truly loved each and every one of her friends and neighbors at Fellowship Square in Mesa since moving there in 2018.

Charlotte’s final resting place will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, Minnesota.
