Gloria Jean Jacobsen Poulson




With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our wife and mother, Gloria Jean Jacobsen Poulson, on Friday, October 11th in Mesa, Arizona. She left this world with the same smile that accompanied her throughout her life.

Gloria was born on September 2, 1943, to Marie Sprouse Jacobsen & Clyde Fern Jacobsen in Glendale, CA. After Gloria graduated from Burbank High School in 1961, she attended Brigham Young University. In September of 1963, Gloria met her future husband, Victor Poulson, while attending church in Burbank, CA. Their first date was November 22, 1963, the night of President Kennedy’s assassination. Victor and Gloria married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on May 16, 1964. Gloria and Victor went on to have three daughters, Victoria Lyn, Lisa Jean and Julie Marie. Gloria worked in the banking industry for Home Savings and NBC News Corporation in Burbank, California before welcoming her children. She was also employed by the Burbank Unified School District at John Muir Middle School, retiring in 1999 prior to moving to Arizona with her family. In Arizona, Gloria worked for Chandler Unified School District at Bogle Junior High School and retired in 2012. Some of her favorite things were going out to dinner and the movies with her husband, celebrating holidays with her family and cooking. Gloria was a devoted life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved serving in the Young Women’s and Relief Society Organizations throughout her life.


Gloria is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Fern Jacobsen, her mother Marie Sprouse Jacobsen, and her sister, Sharon Claree Jacobsen. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Victor Gaylen Poulson, her daughters Victoria Poulson, Lisa (Daniel) Schwalger and Julie (Brian) Standlee, as well as her grandchildren, Tess Elizabeth Schwalger, Lauren Jean Schwalger, Tyler Ryan Standlee, Emma Marie Standlee, Michael Joseph Standlee, and Bridget Taylor Standlee.


We will honor memory, with a funeral service Saturday, October 19, 2024, at noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 9431 East Point Twenty-Two Blvd., Mesa, Arizona 85212. Flowers may be sent to Horizon Funeral Care at 7530 East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona 85207.
