Hector Alfonso Carpena Sr.
Hector Alfonso Carpena Sr. went to meet his heavenly father on July 2, 2022. Hector was born July 10, 1957 in Santa Ana, Sonora, Mexico to Francisco Carpena and Conception Haros de Carpena where he lived until the age of nine. In 1966, Francisco, Conception, Hector and his 6 siblings immigrated to Arizona with the help of Radius (Ray) Hudson, owner of Hudson Farms in Laveen, AZ where Francisco worked. Later, Hector, or Alfonso as the people in Laveen knew him, also worked on the farm alongside his brothers. Alfonso performed various farm duties such as irrigating cotton, sorghum and alfalfa fields, operating various farm equipment like the Cotton Module Packer, Cotton Picker, Plow, and the Cotton Rood along with different types of tractors. In 1976, Alfonso married Shirley McDaniel and had 4 children. Later, Hector became self-employed and added mechanics, pool repair, and construction to his list of trades. Hector is survived by his 3 sons, Hector Jr. (Adri), Rick, Tony (Nereyda), his 1 daughter Sonia, 9 grandkids, Antonio, Victoria, Sierra, Rick, Gabriel, Tamara, Arlene, Vincent and Jacob and 1 great grandson Mateo, sister, Aide Rhine and brothers, Sergio, Raul, Frank, Edgardo, Abel and Israel. Services will be held at the Horizon Funeral Care at 7530 E Main St, (NW corner of E Main and Sossaman), Mesa, AZ 85207 on July 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
