Martha May Ficarra

Martha May Ficarra, 101 years old, of Phoenix, Arizona, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2024.
Martha, born in Boyer, West Virginia, on January 8, 1923, was very loving and kind to her family and friends. She lived a full, wonderful life and will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her brother Ivan, daughter Suzan, and sons Bryan, John and James. She was a caring grandmother to grandkids Bryan, Carrie, Jason, TJ, Angela, Courtney and Tyler, and many great and great-great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John, her parents, Hunter and Nola Thompson and several siblings.
As a small child, Martha moved to Akron, Ohio, and graduated from West High School. She was a standout dancer, collecting many awards during competitions throughout Ohio. She worked her entire life serving the public, including her time in the Valley, after relocating to Arizona in 1987 with her family. She left a lasting impression on everyone she interacted with and was a shining light to her family and friends.
A celebration of life for Martha will be on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Bridge Church-Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 1249 N Lindsay Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234. A live stream will be available on Facebook and YouTube and accessed through the church’s website at bridgechurchaz.org.
Graveside services will occur on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Please check with Horizon Funeral Care in Mesa, Arizona, for the time of burial services.
