Rebecca Jean Jones Baker
Rebecca Jean Jones Baker, the daughter of Chester Jones and Nancy Lee Mann Jones, was born on April 16, 1953 in Paris, Texas.
Rebecca died from Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 67 on January 6th at Villa Ocotillo Memory Care in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother Jody Crouch Jones of Altus, Oklahoma, a sister Evelyn Kay Jones of Snyder, Ok, and one brother Robert Chester (Casey) Jones of Arlington, Texas.
Those left to honor Rebecca’s memory are her two daughters Nancy Katherine Baker (Craig Piercy) of Temecula, California and Julia D. Baker Sullivan (Brian) of Bisbee, Arizona and two grandchildren Lucy and Dashal Baker-Sullivan. Rebecca is also survived by her sister Julie Jones Fields Nantais (Rick Nantais) of Apache Junction, two nephews John Fields of Mesa and Jason (Kristy) Fields of Tucson and several nieces and nephews, cousins and one Aunt Marinelle Knight of Florida.
After moving to Arizona, she started working for Albertsons as a courtesy clerk, then Aramark as a janitor at Boeing and finally Wal-Mart as a retail associate and bakery clerk before having to go on medical disability.
Rebecca was a homemaker. She enjoyed ceramics, making bracelets and key chains, painting fabric, playing games with friends and neighbors and especially loved occasional trips to the casinos to play bingo or the slots with friends or family.
Rebecca loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rebecca loved all animals, but her favorite was her Dachshund Oscar that she raised from a new-born until he died at 17. She loved everyone unconditionally. She always brought laughter to the table at every family gathering and even with her caregivers and fellow residents the last year she spent in assisted living and memory care. Rebecca will never be forgotten.
The family would like to thank Emblem Hospice and their team for their support, and Villa Ocotillo of Scottsdale for giving her a loving home in her final stage of life.
The family will hold a private memorial for Rebecca at her home in Apache Junction.
